Light grids consist of a transmitter and a receiver unit with a parallel array of a large number of infrared through beams. They have a two-dimensional detection field and are used for monitoring large areas. In spite of the simple operating principle, you’ll find an array of specialized light grids in our portfolio: large light beam angles ensure easy alignment, “Teach-in” functions permit fast adjustment, crossed light beams increase the resolution of the light grids, and automatic calibration of the signal strength ensures safe operation even in dirty or dusty areas. The high-resolution devices of the PR and LG series detect very small objects or transparent objects with high excess gain. The PLVScan light grids are used for profile and height control of pallets in material handling and conveying applications. The field heights for Pepperl+Fuchs light grids cover detection of small parts, webs up to 600mm, and the detection of parts over an area up to 3056mm.
